Pathway Program and University of Alaska’s Southeast Center for Mining Training

Hecla’s Greens Creek mine is the largest provider of student aid at the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS). In 2021, Hecla donated over $400,000 to educational programs at UAS, including $105,000 to the UAS Center for Mine Training for the workforce development program and $250,000 to the endowment fund for an Environmental Science program. Hecla has been a key partner for 11 years and donated $1.2 million as an investment in educating, recruiting, and training Alaskans for careers in the mining industry. Our partnership has resulted in a substantial number of Greens Creek employees being graduates of the program.
